Short topic quizzes are fine for learning signs, but they do not train you to pace yourself. A full mock forces you to manage fifty questions and a running clock, which is where many learners stumble on test day.
The real test happens at an approved centre on DVSA systems. You must pass multiple choice and hazard perception in the same visit. A free mock theory test on Theory Mock copies the shape of the multiple-choice paper (question count, timing, pass mark) but uses original practice questions.
We do not stream official hazard clips. Pair this hub with our hazard tool and with show me tell me questions for the practical test when that guide is published. Those are separate skills, but instructors expect you to know them before your driving test.
The driving theory test is the touchscreen exam you take before the practical test. For cars it is 50 multiple-choice questions in up to 57 minutes, then hazard perception. You need 43 out of 50 on the questions and 44 out of 75 on hazard clips for a standard car licence. Northern Ireland follows a different booking route; check nidirect if you test there.
A mock theory test is a timed practice run that copies the layout of the real DVSA multiple-choice exam for your licence type. You answer under time pressure, then check your score. It is revision, not the live test at a centre.
Yes. Open the mock for your licence type on Theory Mock and start without an account or payment. We do not ask for card details.
Use our car mock theory test: 50 questions, 57 minutes, and 43 out of 50 to pass the multiple-choice section. You still need a separate hazard perception test on the day.
The car multiple-choice test uses 50 questions. Lorries, buses and ADI candidates face longer papers with higher pass marks. Each card in the menu above shows the format for that licence.
Many road rules overlap, but motorcycle, HGV and other tests add vehicle-specific topics. Always pick the mock that matches the licence you are applying for.
This hub focuses on multiple-choice mocks. For developing hazards, use our image-based hazard perception practice. It is not the official DVSA video clips, but it explains how scoring works.
No. Theory Mock is independent practice. We are not affiliated with DVSA or gov.uk. Question wording is original; it is not the live DVSA bank.
Book through gov.uk when you are scoring comfortably above the pass mark on mocks, not after one lucky run. Check fees and steps on gov.uk before you pay.
